Meet Our Dentists

Dr. Michael Mauren

Dr. Mauren graduated from the University of Detroit School of Dentistry in 1991. From early on in his career Dr. Mauren started taking continuing education from the top educators in dentistry. His main focus was in the areas of cosmetic dentistry, occlusion (how the teeth come together) and full mouth reconstruction.

As time went on Dr. Mauren became very interested in implant dentistry. He attended the Micsch Implant Institute to learn how to restore implants that other people had placed. After doing that for a while he went back to the Misch Institute to learn how to do the implant surgeries. Over time things progressed from doing single implants to full arch cases, where all the teeth are supported by dental implants.

Dr. Mauren has become passionate about helping people who have a hopeless dentition or ill fitting dentures and restoring their mouth with something that is esthetic, functions well and is easy to maintain.

In his spare time Dr. Mauren loves to travel with his wife, Kathy, and spend time with their three children, and 5 grandchildren.

Dr. Morgan Thelen

Dr. Thelen was born and raised in Portland. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Aquinas College in 2012 and attended the University of Detroit Mercy, earning her DDS in 2016, where she graduated in the top 10% of her class. She is a member of the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, and West Michigan District Dental Society, and has spent the last 6 years serving as a dentist in surrounding communities.

In her spare time Dr. Thelen enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, and playing sports, especially softball, basketball, and golf. And like Dr. Mike, she is a huge MSU fan and loves to cheer on the Spartans!

I am new to Portland Dentistry only a couple of visits in. The staff is exceptional. They are kind, courteous, and friendly. I am not a fan of the dentist but they have made it as enjoyable as possible. I would also like to point out they throughly explain items when I have question. Also they are willing to work with me on scheduling for my availability. So far I am very happy with them, and will be recommending them to other people I know.
